There was a really cool online tool that I found and explored this week. This new tool is a visual dictionary. I stumbled upon it because I was writing a paper about teaching vocabulary. I wanted to see if there were online resources that would be better than just looking up a word in a dictionary. Here are two tools that I thought were really cool:

This Merriam-Webster has pictures to go with the words. This would be extremely beneficial for visual learners. An additional benefit is that they have a wide variety of topics.

Visuwords is different than Merriam-Webster because it shows the relationships between words. It creates a giant web and all the words connected to the word you searched. Furthermore, it has different colors and shapes to show the connections between the definitions and word families.

I will certainly be trying these out in the furture.
