Technical Review of Online Visual Dictionaries

Remember when I found those visual dictionary websites? Well, I decided to use them as the topic for my technical review for CMC. I'll be honest, when I started, I thought I had the expectation that it would be really easy. I would download my free trial of Camtasia and screencast my tutorial and review of Visuwords and Merriam Webster's online dictionary quite easily. In reality, it was rather straight forward; however, I had just upgraded my computer to Windows 10 and Camtasia would freeze constantly. So much so that I had to turn my project in a few days late. The screencast was easy but the editting was brutally slow. What I have learned through this experience is to give myself more time to edit videos and to update my RAM.
Before this journey began, I would not have understood much of what I just wrote. This reflection has illuminated just how much I did not know and how much I still need to know. There is so much more that technology has to offer to teachers, and many teachers are ignoring this opportunity to tap into resources that can really help their students learn. To get a sense for what pedagogical implications visual dictionaries have for the classroom, watch my techinal review.
